Discover Card Credit Cards

by Greg Culver

This is your day, your time-you just received your first credit card! Whether you are a techie, a fashion freak, or a regular run of the mill shopper you are bound to have a use for the plastic. But lets rethink this: you're not rich, and your last name definitely isn't Hilton. Credit cards can be a fascinating to people in normal day to day situations, as well as any fresh new face into the world.

If you're in a bad financial situation, it is hard not to turn to credit cards for the easy out. But sometimes the easiest traveled road is the one filled with the most pitfalls. Remember that using a credit card is nothing more than borrowing money you already don't have with interest on top of it. Too much of this will get you into an even worse situation than you were in before.

This, of course, is how all credit card companies make most of their income-by your misunderstanding of how the system works. Even a miniscule reliance on it can prove harmful to your debt woes. Do yourself a favor and don't fall for the usual problems associated with credit cards.

So how did you first learn about credit cards? What marketing strategy held your attention long enough to where you didn't even think to read the fine print? Although great offers can be abundant with credit card companies, only a few of them are actually good deals to consider. A 0% APR until next year is useless if the program costs 300 bucks a year and the normal APR is 25%. Wording is what makes marketing credit cards so easy, and a keen eye can miss the finer details of the contract if not careful. So read the entire contract, word for word. Even after sifting through all of the fine print, is it still a good deal?

If it is, then you have found one of the good points in a credit card: they are not all bad. Ultimately, it is the card holder that determines the usefulness of it. Credit cards are accepted pretty much anywhere nowadays, making them a handy companion for travel.

Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express are all the major credit card companies. The most accessible one would be MasterCard, available to people of all incomes. They all come into play in those situations where you need cash immediately, thus, a credit card should be a last resort. Would you get loans at the drop of a dime?

Treat a credit card like a loan, and you will get good results from its usage. If you do get behind on your credit card payments, then simply slow down and make sure it is the first thing that is paid off. Don't get ahead of yourself, and don't let your credit payments get behind you.

So what are you waiting for? Find a good deal online, read the fine print, and sign up for a win-win situation.
